This 1976 pontiac grand prix is a nice survivor that neatly combines a strong-running v8 with the luxury features of a buick, and wrapped it all in some of the best styling of the decade. Unlike many of its corporate cousins, the pontiac grand prix didn't seem to get clumsy-looking as the decade wore on. Instead, the handsome long nose/short deck profile continued to be a big seller, and with dramatic elements like the v-shaped grille and steeply sloping rear window, it looked fast but not like a kid's car. The handsome cordovan maroon paint makes this subtle but hard to miss, and it highlights why these cars were popular then and will likely become desirable collectors' items in the near future. Note the sweeping front fender line that continues to just about where the driver sits, then kicks up again to finish out the quarter panel. That's a line that's been alive since the early days of sports cars and put to great use by gm in so many products. It looks awesome and gives lithe proportions to even a big car like the grand prix. Decent original paint certainly helps, with a shine that certainly seems in line with the mileage and a set of pinstripes to highlight the car's best features. Sure, the tan vinyl interior is pure disco-era flash, but they didn't skimp on the sport or luxury at pontiac. The gauges are exceptionally cool round units in a wrap-around instrument panel, flanked by round a/c vents that complete the racy look. There's nothing here that's been modified or even really used, and the years have been kind because the door panels, dash pad, carpets, and steering wheel all look quite good. Even the original am/fm radio is still in the middle of the dash. This car's originality is also quite evident in the trunk where it shows factory paint, an original mat, and what just might be the original spare tire and jack assembly. A 350 cubic inch v8 was standard on the grand prix, and this one still runs like it should. The 2-barrel carb isn't going to win any horsepower contests, but it's incomparably smooth, proving once again that good original cars just feel better. The engine bay is highly original and while it shows some age, there's really nothing it needs to make it ready for survivor-class competition beyond a good clean-up. The engine runs smoothly with impressive torque at almost any speed, and it's a great car for cruising the interstates, where it just loafs along unobtrusively. It includes a heavy-duty th400 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end, and it appears that much of the exhaust system is still original equipment save for the muffler and tailpipe. Standard rally ii wheels look great and wear 215/75/15 whitewall radials. Incredibly clean and quite authentic, this car will be a great feature in preservation classes and reminds us how good cars were back in the day. AM/FM✔ Air Conditioning

This very sinister-looking 1972 pontiac gto is a long way from its original configuration but it's not quite a resto-mod. This is what gtos have always been about. Dressed in black, there's no mistaking this as anything other than a street brawler. Everybody spots this gto coming a mile away and gives it the respect it's earned. Most 1972 gtos were mere shadows of their former selves, but not with this car. Every square inch of the bodywork was drenched in glossy black paint, from the distinctive twin-nostril grille up front to the sleek rear end that's thankfully devoid of a wing. They added a ram air hood up front, which works perfectly with the endura front bumper and the grille openings, but otherwise it's just the way the factory made it. Proper gto emblems and decals were added where needed and the bright wheel arch trim only seems to accentuate the lowered stance. This is a great-looking car. The interior of this gto also got a makeover, most notably a set of black leather buckets from a late-model gto. That's a good choice because it keeps the pontiac dna intact, and it's even better because they come complete with aggressive bolsters and gto embroidery that even matches the font of the emblems on the quarter panels. The rest is vintage 1972 performance spec, complete with big, round gauges, a set of auxiliary dials down on the console, and a chrome b&m shifter for the upgraded th2004r 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The three-spoke wheel and engine-turned panels are pure gto and there's an am/fm/cd stereo head unit tucked neatly into the dash. Nice door panels, newer carpets, and a taut headliner give it a very well-finished feel. The trunk is also neatly trimmed with a proper mat and a full-sized spare with jack assembly. This gto delivers big in the horsepower department thanks to a stout pontiac ram air iii 400 cubic inch v8. Rebuilt and fitted with an edelbrock intake, demon 4-barrel carburetor, and an hei ignition system. It's dressed in pontiac turquoise engine enamel, black valve covers, and a matching black air cleaner with a reproduction decal just to tie things together. Up front there's a giant aluminum radiator and it is fitted with both power steering and power front disc brakes. The chassis is clean but not detailed for show, but it is fitted with giant sway bars, long-tube headers, and a rumbling exhaust that speaks for itself. A recent gas tank hangs out back, newer shocks are at the corners, and it wears 15-inch american racing wheels with 215/70/15 bfgoodrich t/a radials. Complete with phs documentation and an original factory buildsheet, this is what a gto should be and what it might have been if insurance and gas prices hadn't conspired to kill horsepower. This is a very cool car with a timeless look. AM/FM

Quarters, doors, fenders, and the original twin-snorkel hood are in great condition, which is obvious from the sharp crease that runs down the flanks. From the Endura front bumper surrounding the twin Pontiac grilles, to the twin hood scoops, to the ultra-straight flanks, it's stylish and timeless. It was repainted at some point in the past, long enough that it has a bit of patina, but it sure cleans up nicely
